Audience and integrity notice#

AI can support explanation, planning, practice, and feedback, but it can also produce incorrect information, inappropriate difficulty, fabricated sources, or work that violates course rules. Teachers and learners should follow institutional policies and disclose assistance when required.

Do not enter identifiable student records, disability information, health details, disciplinary notes, private assessments, or other protected data into an unapproved AI product. Use synthetic examples whenever possible.

Teacher workflow#

  1. Define the learning objective and what evidence will demonstrate it.
  2. Supply the curriculum source, age range, prerequisites, and accessibility needs.
  3. Choose a bounded task such as outlining a lesson, generating practice questions, or simplifying a provided explanation.
  4. Require answer keys, rationale, source boundaries, and labels for uncertainty.
  5. Review accuracy, bias, reading level, cognitive demand, and whether the activity actually measures the objective.
  6. Pilot the material before assigning it broadly.

Student study workflow#

Use AI to support active learning rather than to replace it.

  1. State the topic and show your current attempt or understanding.
  2. Ask for a hint, explanation, example, or practice question—not a hidden submission-ready answer.
  3. Compare the explanation with course materials and authoritative sources.
  4. Explain the idea back in your own words.
  5. Complete the final work according to the course’s permitted-use rules.

Safe input checklist#

Before using a prompt, remove names and personal identifiers. Confirm the material may be shared. State the learner level without exposing an individual’s private record. Provide the authoritative source text when accuracy matters. Define words or methods that the course requires, and tell the model not to invent citations.

For younger learners, an adult should review the output before use. Generated material should not be treated as an accessibility accommodation, clinical recommendation, or special-education decision.

Example adaptation#

A weak request says, “Teach me algebra.” A more useful study prompt says:

Use one worked example, then give one similar practice problem without the answer. Ask me to explain my first step before showing the solution. Use only the method in the supplied class note.

This structure supports practice, but the explanation still needs comparison with the course method.

Verification and attribution#

Check equations, dates, definitions, quotes, citations, and answer keys. When the model claims a source, open and verify it. Educators should keep a record of what was generated and what was changed before distribution. Learners should cite or disclose AI assistance when policy requires it.

FAQ#

Can a teacher use AI-generated questions without review?

No. Check alignment, answer accuracy, ambiguity, bias, reading level, and whether the questions reveal or distort the intended assessment.

Can students use AI to edit assignments?

Only within the course rules. A grammar-only pass may be allowed where idea generation or rewriting is not. Ask the instructor when the boundary is unclear.

Does a confident explanation mean it is correct?

No. Verify it against course materials and authoritative sources, especially for technical, historical, medical, or legal topics.

Editorial status#

Before publication, test the adaptations across age ranges and subjects, obtain educator review, confirm privacy language, and document failure cases involving incorrect answers, fake citations, and inappropriate difficulty.
